Everything you see in Kino arrives through plugins: small pieces of code, published by anyone, that connect a content source to the app. They're the engine behind everything else — not an add-on, but how Kino brings content in.
Kino is a movie, series and live TV player for phone and TV (Android TV / Fire TV): it adapts itself to a big screen with a remote or a phone screen with your fingers.
No ads, no trackers reporting what you watch, and it installs nothing besides the app itself.
Kino started as a focused rebuild of a larger project: the idea was to do one thing well —play video, on any screen— instead of carrying everything that project had accumulated. What was left is a light player, built to work without depending on a server of its own: everything runs inside the app.

A plugin is a content source anyone can publish as a small public GitHub repository. You
install one by typing owner/repo, see which sites it will connect to, and from then
on it's one more source: its results show up in search and on Home alongside everything else.
The simplest plugin: public-domain movies and TV. A good starting point for writing your own.

kinotvapp/kino-plugin-own-serverKino is a generic media player: it does not host, index or control any content by itself, and it does not support piracy or copyright infringement.
A plugin is third-party code, published by its own author. Kino does not review, control or endorse what a plugin does or what content it connects to — installing and using any given plugin is each person's own choice. Content reached through any source is that source's own responsibility, not Kino's.
This repository is open source (Apache-2.0 license), in the hope that what people build with it is put to good use. Kino is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, anyone who uses, forks or redistributes this code.
